Dr. (Miss) Sneh Manishi Toprani
Dr. (Miss) Sneh Manishi Toprani is a post-doctoral fellow at John B Little Center for Radiation Science, Department of Environmental Health at Harvard T H Chan School of Public Health. As a postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Toprani is responsible for leading a project that is focused on lung cancer. The major goals of this project are to understand the basis for lung cancer susceptibility, and to identify new personalized strategies for radiation therapy in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. She is also a principal investigator for the project “Assessing DNA damage and repair capacity in airline flight crew” supported by Harvard-NIEHS Center for Environmental Health pilot project to test the hypothesis whether compromised genomic integrity due to air travel exposures might play a role in elevated health risk observed in flight crew.
Dr. Toprani has obtained her PhD in Life sciences from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre- University of Mumbai, one of the premier research Institutes in India, which is engaged in radiobiological studies. Her doctoral work concentrated on low dose of gamma and neutron radiation induced DNA damage and role of different DNA repair mechanisms involved. She further extended her PhD work in understanding the inter-individual variation towards radiation sensitivity and disease susceptibility. Dr. Toprani holds an M.S. in Biotechnology, as well as a B.S. in Biotechnology and food production and processing from the University of Mumbai.
Dr. Toprani has conduct many peer reviews for elite journals and served on the several editorial board. Her research has resulted many peer reviewed journal articles and conference papers, and she has presented her work in many national/international conference, workshop and symposiums. From all the awards and fellowships, she has been awarded, some prestigious ones which include are the Bharat excellence award and Leading Educationist Award of India with gold medal (2019); Government of India (Indian Solitary Council); Rashtriya Gaurav Vidya Purashkar (2016) and also Young Scientist Award (2015).
